The COSASS project brings a workshop on Adaptive Smart AreaS and Intelligent Agents (ASSIA) to the PAAMS 2023 International Conference

COSASS project members have attended the 21st International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems (PAAMS), held in Guimarães (Portugal) from July 12 to 14.

Hundreds of researchers, academics and experts from all over the world will meet there to address and discuss topics such as agent-based simulation and prediction, distributed problem solving, adaptation, learning and personalization, knowledge management and manufacturing systems. For this reason, the conference has been a great opportunity to promote of the objectives of COSASS and to exchange experiences and knowledge.

Guimarães has served as a meeting point for the project members, where they reviewed the progress and the undertaken challenges. Likewise, the workshop on Adaptive Smart AreaS and Intelligent Agents (ASSIA) was held in the framework of COSASS on Thursday morning, July 13, with a committee formed by expert professors from several universities such as the University of Salamanca (Spain), Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain), King Juan Carlos University (Spain), the University of Minho (Portugal), the Hochschule Hannover (Germany), the University of Craiova (Romania) and Malmö University (Sweden).

The workshop has been remarkably valuable for discussing technological solutions for Adaptive Smart Areas, geo-positioned locations with a high need for sensing, which facilitates their adaptation to significant changes in environmental conditions. Adaptive Smart Areas represent a new way of thinking about any kind of space by shaping a model that integrates aspects such as energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, protection of the environment, and economic sustainability. Some other relevant topics of the workshop were smart city modeling, precision agriculture, smart education and data sharing and privacy.

Without a doubt, participation in PAAMS has served to raise awareness of the work being carried out in the context of the COSASS project, discuss ideas and create opportunities in collaboration with other experts in different technological areas.
